excited and nervous

First day back to school.  Spence has been looking forward to this for some time and remembers waking up through the night in excitement.  Camille was nervous enough before bedtime.  It was nice to get to meet their teachers and have them see their classrooms last night.  But we are very proud of them and know that they will be great students and be good friends.

August rain

So, it's true. I am a lone man in the garden this week. The wife and kids went up to my in-laws house and are enjoying family fun. For me... work and time to get the projects done... or something like that.  It was nice being with Grandma on her birthday. And to be in the temple was, as it always is, a wonderful event. And wasn't the weather nice today?  Some hints on where our next trip will be...

this last 1981 video clip should give it away, if the others haven't already

Roar of the Heavens

I think that there is some serious unrest in the universe tonight... possibly due to the decision by Judge Walker to stray from the Constitution of our nation... In a statement, Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch weighed in on the issue as well. He said, "One federal judge trumped seven million voters by making up a right that is not in the Constitution. This is what happens when judges make up the Constitution as they go along." -KSL.com

At any rate, what a show tonight in the sky. Here are some sunset pictures and then some 11:30pm pictures of the lightning. The shutter was held open for 15 seconds on the lightning pics, in case you're interested.

Skies

I posted this in my photography blog, but thought it worth duplicating here.  There were taken from my back and front yard last night.

An incredible evening of light and magic. When the light from outside starting pouring yellow abundantly in through the windows, I knew it was time to grab the camera and head outside last night.

This first shot is straight from the camera, no editing.
